A. A. M.

The 'honour' of having the very first entry on the site goes to a band called Cross Section, who recorded at least one self-financed single, 'Lovin' Song', in 1974 - the catalogue number, AAM-2, suggests that there may be an AAM-1 out there, but if there is I have not been able to trace it.  They don't seem to have given its label a name, so I have followed what seems to be the accepted practice by naming it after the prefix of its catalogue number.  'A. A. M.' were the initials of the band's vocalist, Allan Astley-Morton, who has been kind enough to get in touch, enabling me to add the following from his mail: '[The single] was a self-financed pressing of what (and I freely admit) was a truly awful recording/song.  My children still take the mickey out of me to this day.  There was an AAM-1.  It was a single-sided LP of 6 tracks, not a 7”.  Oddly enough someone put a copy of Lovin’ Song on e-bay and it sold for around £15.00 to some guy in Spain.  Funny old world.  I bet he only ever played it once!'  The 'B' side, 'Rock 'n' Roll Queen' has been described as 'Glam'.  Thanks to Robin Wills for the scan.
