AMITY
A very short-lived
subsidiary of Orange Records (q.v.). According to 'Music Week' of the 14th of
February 1970 Amity was intended to be Orange's 'Pop /
Bubblegum' outlet. In the event it issued just three singles, all
of them over the course of the next three months. Numbering was in an
OTS-500 series, starting at 500. The third, and last,
single was a Country record by Brian Chalker, 'Ned Kelly' (OTS-502); Chalker released 'The Ballad Of
Ned Kelly' on Lucky Records (q.v.) in the same year, but
this was a different song. Amity singles shared a
company sleeve with those of its parent (3). Manufacture and distribution
were by Pye, as was the case with Orange itself, and promotional copies (2) were in the
Pye family style.
