CAESARS RECORD PALACE
Apparently a one-off
concern, the 'one' in question being the single pictured
above, Anthony Dee's 'Sunshine Day' (CRP-001). There's no date on the
label, but as the Valdene Productions mentioned on the label were associated
with Webster Shrowder and the Jamaica Sounds and Cancer labels around 1977-79 it
seems reasonable to guess that Caesars Record Palace dates from that period and
was from the same stable. 'Sunshine Day' has been described in various
quarters as 'Soca / Calypso' and 'Reggae'; never having heard it, I'm not
qualified to venture an opinion, but the fact that the 'B' side was entitled
'Version' suggests the latter. Thanks to Sam Mauger for bringing the label
to my attention and for supplying the scan.
