CERNLUN
Something of an oddity, in that
it was a Welsh-language label belonging to a studio in St.
Albans. Cernlun appears to have been the Welsh counterpart of the
Profile Studio's 'Profile' label (q.v.) - Cernlun means 'Profile' in
English. The only record that I have managed to trace on the label -
it may well be the only one on the label - is the one shown
above, 'Llawenhewch Yn Yr Arglwydd', by Cyfeillion Crist, which dates from
1974. With Cyfeillion Crist translating as 'Friends of Christ' it's
no surprise to find that the single is in Christian Folk territory; and indeed
Profile seems to have specialized in that genre. Its catalogue
number, GMOR-112, was one of a series used by Profile, and the label designs are
very similar. See also Roundabout, which was the ancestor of both
labels, and Capri. The man behind all of them was Steve Kendall.
