CHEBEL

A one-off label, but in interesting one.  Chebel's only release was an early affirmation of gay sexuality, and was produced by the Campaign for Homosexual Equality, Manchester, in 1975.  The tracks on it, 'Glad To Be Gay', 'Gay Switchboard Jingle', 'Schizophrenia' and 'Stand Together' were by Tom, Rose & Annie in various combinations.  'Tom' was Tom Robinson, but 'Glad To Be Gay' is reportedly a different song to the anthemic 'Sing If You're Glad To Be Gay' which appeared on EMI (EMI-2749) a few years later.  The catalogue number of the EP was SRT/CUS-015, which indicates an SRT custom recording, and the label had a typical SRT custom recording look, being of a plain design: it was black with silver printing and had the words 'CHEBEL RECORDS' at the top in two lines.  If you find one, grab it - according to the 'Popsike' site only three hundered were pressed and the last one to come up for sale went for just over a thousand pounds.
