CHESTNUT STUDIOS
The label of Tim
Wheatley's Chestnut Studios, of Churt, Surrey. Chestnut put out a handful
of records from 1979-c.81, presumably acting as a custom recording agent
rather than as a record company. Singles and LPs alike were
numbered in the NUT-0s. There is no date on the label of 'Twenty Flight
Rock' b/w 'C'mon Everybody' by Rock 'n' Roll band Starchase (NUT-1), but as
NUT-2 - an LP by the Penthouse Band, 'Sounds Of The Penthouse Band' - was
recorded in August 1979 it seems a reasonable bet that the Starchase single was
from that year. The highest number that googling reveals is NUT-6,
Truffle's 'Round Tower' b/w 'If You Really Want', which came out in 1981.
Thanks to Sam Mauger for bringing the label to my attention.
