CJV
Apparently a one-off label, in vinyl terms
at least. CJV took its name from the initials of the man who was behind
it, Chris Veness. He wrote, produced (and recorded?) the only single
on the label, the one shown above, 'Get Em Off' by the Sunny Jim
Band (JA-001 / 002; 1978). The fact that the 'B' side was called 'Is He
One Of Those' makes you suspect that there may be a lack of
political correctness in the lyrics. Robert Bowes, who was kind enough to bring
the label to my attention, describes the music as 'Punkish sing-along'
stuff. Under the name of Chris Black, guitarist Veness went on to
make several Rockabilly records with his band Black Cat in the '80s. He
revived the CJV label briefly in 2001.
