CLAN
DISC
A Reggae label; part of
the Trojan group. Clan Disc (or Clandisc) lasted from 1969 to 1972, and was
a vehicle for Clancy Eccles productions. It issued some thirty-six singles, in a
CLA-200 series; three numbers in the series appear not
to have been used. Early releases were on a plain light blue-green label
with silver printing (1); from June 1970, with CLA-211, they gained a logo
and the colour changed to red-on-cream. For some reason CLA-221
had black print instead of red (2) - thanks to Robert Bowes for that
scan. The text 'Made in England' appeared on records from May 1971
onwards (3), starting with CLA-231. Manufacture seems to have been generally by Orlake, as it
was for most of Trojan's products at the
time.
