COASTAL MUSIC STUDIOS

According to advertisements in the issues of 'Studio Sound' magzine of July and December 1972 and February 1973, Coastal Music Studios Ltd operated out of premises at 1, Royal Terrace, Lowestoft, and offered tape-to-disc services, commercial pressings and the provision of masters.  The only record that I have seen credited to the company is the one shown above, which is of what is presumably an original tune called 'Annie King (Farmer's Daughter)' by organist Rowland Barber with accompaniment by drummer Bernard Herd - the other side appears to have just a continuous tone on it.  The catalogue number, YRS SP-02, indicates that the record was made through Yarmouth Recording Studios (q.v.).  The components of the matrix number in the run-off are separated by plus signs, which is usually an indication of an Orlake pressing, but the Yarmouth studios had their own pressing plant, the Anglia Pressing Company, and the marks on the label look more like Anglia ones than Orlake ones - perhaps the disc was cut at Orlake and pressed at Anglia?  See 'Emmex' and 'Notch' for other examples.  Presumably there are other Coastal Music Studios records out there, but pressing runs are likely to have been small; any reports of them would be welcome.  Ownership details, too, have escaped me thus far.  The only references to the Studios online are in the 'London Gazette' listing of companies for the 11th of October 1979 and the 24th of January 1980: they indicate that indicate that the limited company was dissolved on that latter date.
