COUNTDOWN
Another label about which information has proved next-to-impossible to
find. To judge by the catalogue number of the Tony Marsden EP
pictured above, Countdown would appear to have issued at least seven
records. Googling, however, has revealed no sign of any of the others, so
it looks likely that the EP may be a one-off and that the '2007' number was not
part of a series. Pressing was by Lyntone; the matrix number in the
run-off, LYN-4064, gives a date of early 1977. The EP format and the
content of the record - Tony Marsden appears to be a cabaret singer, and the
songs are by other by other people - suggest that Countdown was a
custom-recording company, one which made recordings for people who paid them to
do so. Tony Marsden went on to record for MPA (q.v.) towards the end
of the decade.
