COUNTRY SOUNDS

A small independent label from the North West of England, run by record producer Bernard Mitty.  According to a newspaper cutting on the facebook page of Country singer Jedd Winters, Mitty heard a demo tape that he and his band The New Country Line had recorded at Burscough Football Club - Winters lived in Bursclough at the time - and offered them a recording contract.  As a result they went into the studio and cut three tracks which formed the first release on Mitty's new label.  The article quoted Winters as saying that he and his band were going to be "recording an album for Country Sounds in the very near future", but Googling reveals no trace of that album or indeed of any other Country Sounds record.  According to the article Mitty had a Folk Music label, and Country Sounds was an offshoot of it; sadly no name was mentioned, and again Googling dredges up no relevant information.  The maxi-single was issued in or around August 1976 - reportedly the band was formed in June of that year and the contract was signed six weeks later.  Tracks on it were 'Ladies Love Outlaws', 'I Recall A Gypsy Woman' and 'Thank You Honey', and it had a catalogue number of CS-001.  The pressing marks on the labels indicate that Linguaphone was reposnible for manufacture.  If anybody knows of any other CSes I'd be glad to hear about them.
