FLAMES
A Reggae / Calypso / Soca / Funk label, American in origin - from
Brooklyn, New York, in fact. Most Flames singles don't seem to have
made it to these shores, but, if catalogue numbers are anything to go by, at
least a couple of them did. Those two were 'Solitary Man' by Raunchie
& Bev (F-101), and Errol George's, 'Set Up Yourself'
(F-102). Mark Griffiths gives its period of operation over here as
1976-77, and says that it was owned by Ossie Thompson and Winston Jones.
It had a sister label, Flamingo (q.v.). Thanks to Robert Bowes for the
scan.
