FLOWERPOT

A label from the Merseyside area, owned by Billy Maher and Billy Jackson.  Flowerpot issued at least three records, all of them by The Jacksons: the first two were EPs, the third an LP.  An EP featuring 'Making Wellies All Day', 'The Leaving Of Liverpool', 'The Kids Songs' and 'The Tattooed Lady' (FP-101) was first out of the blocks, appearing in 1977; it was followed in 1979 by another EP, which offered 'The Well Song', 'The Saga Of Maggie May', 'We're Off In A Motor Car' and 'The One-Eyed Reilly' (FP-102) - that record had the same label design but was coloured yellow (2) instead of orange.  The LP 'The Jacksons Party' (FP-50) completed the trio in 1980.  The band had previously had a couple of EPs out on the Stag Music label (q.v.) and had also appeared on 'Various Liverpool Artists' LPs on Stag Music and Liverpool Sound (q.v.).  Thanks to Robert Bowes for bringing the label to my attention and for providing the first scan; the second appears by courtesy of John Timmis.
