GANNET

Gannet appears to have been a one-off DIY label.  Its sole release was an EP, 'Four By Three', by Rock trio the Next Band.  Its catalogue number was SRTS/78/CUS-159; as the number indicates, it came out in 1978 and was made by custom-recording concern SRT.  The Next Band was originally based in Grantham, but it moved up to Yorkshire; the tracks on the EP are reported to have been made at Fairview Studios, in Hull.  Drummer Frank Noon was borrowed by Def Leppard for the recording of that band's 1978 EP, which adds to the Next Band record's collectability.  Thanks to Sam Mauger for bringing the label to my attention, and to Sid Stovold for providing the scan.
