GRAHAM CLARK

The label of Graham Clark's studio in Addlestone, Surrey.  The company started up in 1968 and was still going in 1973.  An advert in 'Studio Sound' magazine of September 1971 says that the studio offered a tape-to-disc service, which may explain the origin of an EP of Drag Car sounds recorded at the 1972 BDR & HRA international meeting.  The catalogue number of that record was HAS-GCR-34; the 'HAS' part of the prefix suggests that John Hassell Recordings (q.v.) may have been involved at some stage.  The only other 7" I have been able to trace was an EP called 'Come Alive' by Christian band The Kingfishers, which featured the tracks 'Nobody Else', 'Over The World', 'Come Alive!' and 'Steps To Calvary'; that was numbered GCR-10.  Add to that an album by The Town Jackies, 'In Loving Memory Of The Town Jackies', and those are all the Graham Clark records that Googling currently dredges up.  Presumably there were dozens of others, but they were probably made in very small quantities.  At least two different labels were used, both of them of plain design.  The scan which Sam Mauger has kindly supplied shows one kind; the Kingfishers' EP had a yellow label with black printing; it had 'GRAHAM CLARK' and the studio's address at the top in small letters.
