INNOVATION
Innovation seems to have made just two records, both
by Monica Rose, one of the co-hosts of the television
shows 'Double Your Money' and 'The Sky's The Limit'. 'Number 900
Perpendicular Street' b/w 'Down At Our Battersea Boozer' (NOV-101; 1972) was a
Cockney-singalong sort of thing, while the follow-up, 'It's The Time Of The
Year' b/w/ 'Love Is Fanciful' (NOV-102; 1973) was an equally
Cockney Christmas record. As can be seen from the scan the
second label was in a different colour, and the font used for the label name was
plainer (2). In both cases musical backing was provided by the Jack Dove
Orchestra and the Nigel Brooks (or Brook) Singers, and the records were products
of Sontel Music Ltd, which was based in Weybridge. The form of the
matrix number of NOV-101 suggests that pressing was done by Pye.
Monica Rose went on to make an album for budget label Windmill Records 'Oh! You
Beautiful Doll' (WMD-228) in 1974. Thanks to Neil Thompson for bringing
Innovation to my attention.
