JAMAICA SOUND

A Reggae label, which according to Mark Griffiths was run by Webster Shrowder and was associated with Valdene Productions; Larry Sevitt was also involved.   Catalogue numbers suggest that Jamaica Sound issued at least sixteen 7" singles, in a JS-900 series, during the period 1977-1979, but several of the numbers seem not to have been used.  From 1979 into the early '80s it appears to have concentrated on 12" singles.  It had a sister-label, Cancer (q.v.), and distribution of some items was by CBS - an advert by Valdene in 'Music Week' of the 1st of April 1978 let the trade know that the company's records were now available from that source.  Thanks to Mark, and to Robert Bowes for the illustrations.  The discograhy below covers such Jamaica Sound 7" singles as googling reveals.
