A Reggae label, which according to Mark Griffiths was run by Webster Shrowder and was associated with Valdene Productions; Larry Sevitt was also involved. Catalogue numbers suggest that Jamaica Sound issued at least sixteen 7" singles, in a JS-900 series, during the period 1977-1979, but several of the numbers seem not to have been used. From 1979 into the early '80s it appears to have concentrated on 12" singles. It had a sister-label, Cancer (q.v.), and distribution of some items was by CBS - an advert by Valdene in 'Music Week' of the 1st of April 1978 let the trade know that the company's records were now available from that source.
