KERI
A management company and agency based in Corby, Northants, Keri appears to have been involved in the local Club
/ Cabaret scene. During 1979-80 it made a number of records, presumably by acts
which it managed - as in the case of Stella Clarke - or booked; whether the recordings were financed by the company
or the artist remains to be discovered. Catalogue numbers started at KE-781: the first two
digits seem to represent the year of issue and the last the number of records that had
been made in that particular year. EPs and LPs shared the
same series. An EP by Buzzard (KE-791) can be found filed under 'Prog' and also 'NWOBHM',
on the grounds that Buzzard member Chris Page went on to play with NWOBHM
band Energy, but seeing that the record contains covers of tracks by Leo Sayer
('The Show Must Go On' and 'When I Need You'), The Hollies ('Gasoline Alley
Bred') and Marmalade ('Radancer') it doesn't look particularly Proggy or HMish.
One label design
seems to have served throughout, more or less, though the credits on the top
half of the label were reduced in size after KE-791; KE-802 had the same basic
design on one of its labels - in white on black - and a picture on the
other. The
Keris that I have managed to find are listed below; if the first two digits
do give the year, and for example KE-792 was the
second record made in 1979, not all the numbers will have been used, so this
may actually be a complete listing. The only three that I have
seen in the vinyl have been Lyntone pressings, and their Lyntone
matrix numbers agree with a date of 1979. Thanks to Steve Mitchell
for providing both information and the second scan.
