K J ROBERTS PROMOTIONS

Something of a mystery.  The only record on the K. J. Roberts Promotions label that I have been able to trace is a single called 'Susannah' b/w 'Garden Of Men' by Moonshine, a Rock band from Warrington.  'Garden Of Men', appeared on a CD compilation called 'We Can Fly 2', where it was reported to date from 1969.  That would, of course, put it outside the scope of this site.  However, according to a promotional inset that came with the band's follow-up - an EP called 'If It Moves Sit It Down, If It Stays Still Wake It Up', which came out on the Moo label (q.v.) - Paul Blease, the writer and producer of both tracks, joined the band in 1972.  For my money it seems likely that the single was made after he joined, so I've given it the benefit of the doubt and let the K J Roberts Promotions label have a page.  The insert also states that the drummer on the first single left the band before the summer of 1975, which gives us a 'not after' date.  In addition Robert Bowes, who kindly brought the label to my attention and supplied the scan, says that the record is stereo, which not many singles were in 1969.  He adds that the music itself is reminiscent of the Moody Blues.  The EP's sleeve notes thank 'Ken' for 'feeding us', which raises the possibility that Ken may have been the 'K' of K J Roberts.
