LPL (LAIRDS' PURE LATIN) SOUNDS



An independent label, specialising in Strict Tempo Dance music of the Latin American variety.  LPL Sounds - 'Lairds' Pure Latin Sounds' on the picture sleeves - was based at 159 Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill, Essex.  It issued a couple of LPs, three singles and four EPs during the period 1976-78.  The musical director on these records was Walter Laird; presumably the label was his.  The singles were numbered in the S-10s; they had the dance rhythm on one side and an orchestra playing a tune in that rhythm on the other.   EPs had numbers in the LPL/EP-1000s.  Picture sleeves seem to have been the norm, and each record had a different-coloured label, though the design remained the same.
