MACYM
The record label of Mudiad Adloniant Cymraeg Ynys Mon, 'The Isle of Anglesey
Welsh-Language Entertainment Movement', an Anglesey-based entertainment company. MACYM issued at
least three singles in 1979 through Sain Records (q.v.), using a MACYM-0
numbering series. All three were by Welsh Rock artists: MACYM-1
was Eliffant's 'Seren I Seren' b/w 'Lisa Lan', while MACYM-3
was 'Breuddwyd Roc A Rol' b/w 'Smo Fi Ishe Mynd', by
Edward H. Dafis. MACYM-2, 'Gwesty Cymru' b/w 'Mynd I Weld Y Fran', didn't have an artist's
name on the labels but over on 45cat Donna Bean of
BBC Wales has been able to supply it: it was by Geraint Jarman a'r
Cynganeddwyr. The Eliffant single had a white label with
the word 'MACYM' at the top (1); by the time of
the second single a more adventurous had been adopted (2). It features a map
of Ynys Mon / Anglesey. Manufacture of all three singles was by Lyntone. Thanks
to The Judge of 45cat for the translation of the company's name.
