MERSEY SOUND
Apparently a one-off DIY label. The only record on
Mersey Sound that I have managed to trace is the one shown above, 'Thoughts Of
Love' b/w 'Taking A Chance On Love' by Josephine Ryan. There's no
catalogue number on the label, and no date either, but the matrix number on the
run-off, LS-1827, suggests that the record was a product of Liverpool Sound
(Enterprises) (q.v.). It also enables us to offer an approximate date of
recording of 1975-76. A letter from Josephine which came
with the record, and mentions it as being financed by her, was written in
1977, which adds a little support to the '75-'76 dating. Manufacture seems
to have been by Deroy. The songs on the single are pleasant easy-listening
Club / Cabaret fare with a '40s feel.
