MOONEY'S
A
mystery. All I know about the Mooney's label is what can be gleaned
from the label itself: it issued at least one single, 'The Men Behind The Bar',
by Arthur Porter & The Powers, in 1972. The catalogue number of
that single was, somewhat idiosyncratically, 'PINT ONE'; as yet I haven't been
able to discover if they got any more PINTs in, but I would doubt
it. You would imagine that a label called 'Mooney's' would be Irish
in origin, and on the 'A' side the band sound like Irish Folkies with a drummer,
but it was English - the single was listed in the trade paper 'Music Week' among
the releases for August 5th. A word of caution: my copy had lost its
push-out centre, so I've used a paint programme to 'replace' it in the scan.
