MOUTH
A DIY label. Mouth was home to just the one record,
a single by Punk band Mouth To Mouth. It featured
two tracks, 'Gallery Of Dolls' and 'Life In The Subterrain', both
of which were on one side, the other being blank. I haven't happened upon
that particular strategy before, but apparently it reduced the cost of making
the record. The use of a printing outfit to put the relevant information
on to blank white labels, which was also done, was a commoner DIY
ploy. Two hundred copies were made, and they were sold in the Rough Trade
shop in London. As can be seen from the scan, the catalogue number was
MT-1 and the record was issued in 1979. Thanks to Sam Mauger for the scan
and for bringing the label to my attention.
