MOVERS
Producer, composer and
multi-instrumentalist Mike Dorane was behind a couple of labels which appeared through Island Records in
1976: Rockers (q.v.), which first saw the light of day in February of that year and featured Reggae; and this one, Movers, which emerged a couple of months after Rockers and concentrated on Soul and Disco music. Neither made any impact on the British Charts, and neither are commonly met
with nowadays (2019); their singles seem to tend to sell for low double figures, and the Disco
Dub Band's 'For The Love Of Money' (MO-1; 4/76) is apparently highly regarded in Dance
circles. Individual issues can be found with or without a medium-sized black 'A' on the labels; I would guess that those with the 'A' are demo copies (2).
