NOMAD
A DIY label, but a very
professional-looking one. Damon's, 'Can I Wish You A Merry
Christmas' was the only release on the Nomad label; the Damon concerned was
Damon Metrebian. A pleasant, Pop-flavoured song, it was reissued on
Polydor (2058-815) the following year, though the artist's name was extended to
Damon Metro for that release. The narrow dinking perforations and the
style of the matrix number suggesnt an EMI pressing. Damon, who is now
at Super Bear studios, has
kindly got in touch and has added the following:
Nomad Records was my own
label (Damon spelled backwards). I can't remember where I had the records
pressed, but I believe it was somewhere in Wembley (London). They were all sold at 50p through my
dad's shops (a non music outlet). I wanted the label to look as professional as
possible and it appears to have worked. After a brief period signed to Polydor, I eventually went on to become a
recording studio owner and had a bit if success doing that. I recently set up an online service and
will go back into music production later this year.
