NOMADS
A DIY label, possibly a one-off. The only record
that I have so far been able to confirm as being on the Nomads label was the
EP pictured above, by The Nomads With Ann Curtin. In addition to the
two tracks shown it contained versions of 'You Are The Sunshine Of My Life' and
'Annie's Song', which hints at Club / Cabaret territory. There's no
date on the label, but it has a mid-Seventies look to it. The catalogue
number, NOM-176, doesn't fit any series that I've come across; I'd be prepared
to wager a fair amount of money - as much as fifty pence - that the '76'
part referred to the year when the EP was issued. The sleeve says that the
engineer was Ted Taylor, which suggests a product of Porcupine Studios, of
Eltham. Pressing was by Phonodisc. The Nomads, again with Ann
Curtin, also made an LP, 'Music', which some sources say was released in 1973;
others give 1979. Sadly, none of them mention what label it was on, so it
could be another entry in the 'Nomads' catalogue. Thanks to Mystdrf of the
45cat site for permission to use his scan here.
