PLUM (PR prefix)
The second Plum label of the '70s was as obscure as the first. The catalogue number of
'Back Home For Christmas' b/w 'Think Of Me At Christmas'
by comedian Freddie Davies - PR-1014 - suggests that there should be at
least thirteen other records on this kind of Plum out there, presumably dating
from c.1976-77, but I've never come across any of them and frankly I very much
doubt that they exist. It may well be that the PR-1000 series belonged to a recording studio
and was used for records on other labels: Progress Records of Blackpool is a possible, as that put out
records in the PR-1000s - see 'P. R.'. I wouldn't have known about
this second Plum label if Robert Bowes hadn't been good enough to bring it to my
attention. One to keep an eye open for, then, though not a very expectant eye.
