PRINCE
A
DIY label; a vehicle for the singing of Eric Prince. The only single
I have seen on the Prince label is the one shown above,
'She' b/w 'Solitaire' (HP-46; 1975), though there were also a couple of
self-financed albums later in the decade: 'The Admirable Mr. Prince' (IS/EP/118) and 'The
Truly Wonderful Mr. Prince' (PR-79; 1979) - full marks for chutzpah, giving the
records titles such as those. The 'HP' prefix of the single indicates a Stag
Music (q.v.) recording, and pressing was by Phonodisc. It must have run
to a couple of pressings, if the two differently coloured labels
are any guide. The tracks on it are typical Club /
Cabaret fare, and are delivered in a pleasant warm voice.
