PRISM

One of the small stable of labels run by the Vogue Choice holding company, and thus a sister to VC, Alpine and Strawberry (q.v. all).  Prism only issued one record, 'Bordeaux Rose' b/w 'Baby Stay For Tonight' by Fairfield Parlour, a band which had recorded for Fontana in the late '60s under the name of Kaleidoscope and had then undergone a name change and a switch of labels, to Vertigo.  The Prism single was partly a reissue, because the 'A' side had appeared on Vertigo (6059-003) in 1971.  The record was of interest to fans of the band because the 'B'-side wasn't available anywhere else until the CD era.  The catalogue number was PRI-1 and the date of release was April 1976.  According to 'Music Week' of the 3rd of that month there were plans for the release of a double album in May; Vogue Choice managing director David Williams was quoted as saying that a number of recordings were waiting and that the band would be putting down new tracks.  Sadly the project seems not to have come to fruition, in that form at least.  As was the case with other Vogue Choice records the Fairfield Parlour (spelled 'Parlor' on the labels) single was handled by President.  Promo copies were marked with a small 'A' as was the case with several other President-associated labels at that time (2).  The few promos I have seen pictured have had dinking perforations, whereas the issues haven't, which is slightly odd.
