TEEJAY
Another one of those sad cases where all I can do is point
to the existence of a label. TeeJay issued at least one single, 'Look
Now' b/w 'Angela' by Turnstile, which came out in 1972 and had a catalogue
number of TJ-101. It was produced by Jeff Wayne. The label design
was striking: it had the company's name at the top in capitals in an arc
which went about a third of the way around the label. The letters
were coloured fawny yellow with brown grooves resembling those of a record going
across them. Three small solid blocks of fawny yellow with the same
grooving occupied most of the rest of the label's surface; the group's name and
the song titles were in the bottom block, and the background colour was
white. Printing was in black. I hope that's clearer than I think it
is. The overall effect was too impressive for a DIY effort -
perhaps TeeJay was a small independent or an outlet for a music
publisher.
