THUMB

A small independent label from the late '70s and early '80s, based in Guildford and owned by Tony Leach.  Catalogue numbers suggest that Thumb issued six records between 1978 and 1983, but I've only been able to track down five, four of which were albums.  They shared the same TR-000 numerical series, TR-005 being the elusive one.  TR-001, a Various Artists LP entitled 'Who Invited Them?' came out in 1978 and featured four bands: Headwaiter, House, Poker, and the Jackie Lynton H.D. Band.  The latter provided the label with what appears to be its only single, 'Dan (The Hedgehog Song)', which was numbered TR-003 and came out in 1979 as a giveaway with blue vinyl copies of the band's 'Till We're Blue In The Face' album (TR-002).  Apparently its 'B' side, 'Farting With The Famous', which features a series of fart impressions, was co-written by Rick Parfitt, of Status Quo.  A Jackie Lynton band also responsible another LP, 'White Line' (TR-006; 1983), with Mainline's 'Where We Are Now' (TR-004; 1981) coming between them.  The catalogue was completed in 2010 with the addition of a CD by Tony Leach, 'Reunion' (TR-007).
