VEGA

 

A small independent label dedicated to Strict Tempo dance music.  Vega operated out of premises in Gotts Park Crecent, Leeds, LS12.  It issued at least eight EPs; as all of them were by The Stan Holdsworth Sound it seems like a good bet that Stan was the man behind the label.  Numbering was in the VEGA-100s.  There were no dates on the labels but Lyntone pressed a lot of the records and their matrix numbers enable us to put a date to them.  VEGA-100 to 102, which appear to have formed a three record set (they have 'Record 1', 'Record 2' and 'Record 3' on the labels), were issued in 1977, while VEGA-106 is from 1979.  The label design remained the same throughout, but it came in two different colours: silver-on-black replaced the original gold-on-black with VEGA-106.  In addition the first three EPs had the text 'Sequence Record' in brackets under the label name.
