WHITE GOLD

A DIY effort.   White Gold were a band from the Bramley / Guildford area.  They appear to have put out just the one record on their own label, a single featuring 'Bramley Hustle' b/w 'Dreams', which came out in 1979 and had a catalogue number of IOU-100.  A review in the local Punk fanzine 'Barbed Wire' described the band as 'A young local Funk band producing basically Disco music' and said that 'Bramley Hustle' was a commercial track with a 'tremendous party feeling'.  'Dreams', according to the magazine, was a ballad and had 'Some very tasteful instrumental passages that build into a cutting Reggae finale'.  The review has 'Five Star Funk' after the titles and band name; this may be either a description of the music or an alternative name for the record label.  Thanks to David Shephard for sending the review along and for providing much of the content of this page.
