2nd
TRACS
A Reggae label, part of the Tropical Records
group. 2nd Tracs released five singles in 1975-76, all of them
sourced from Jamaican production company Sound Tracs, which had taken over
Tropical in September 1975; catalogue numbers were in an SK-0
series. Sound Tracs signed a pressing and distribution deal with
President, which led to that company handling 2nd Tracs; it was also responsible
for marketing from March 1976 - the only 2nd Tracs single to be released after
that point has a credit to President on the label (2). Promo copies had a
large sideways hollow 'A' on them. According to 'Music Master' independent distributors Lugton
and H.R. Taylor shared the distribution job with Presidents 'Enterprise'
arm. Sound Tracs seems to have hit the buffers towards the
end of 1976 or early in 1977, as the last single on any of its
Tropical labels appeared in November 1976.
