ACHILLES
A Reggae label, but a slightly odd one. Mark
Griffiths writes that Achilles belonged to David Sinclair,
a.k.a. Tapper Zukie, who was responsible for the only issue on the label:
a single called 'Liberation Struggle' b/w 'Double Struggle', which came out in
1978. The same single had been released during the previous year on
Sinclair's 'Stars' label (q.v.); the Achilles reissue consisted of Stars
singles with Achilles labels pasted on to them. Stars singles were
injection moulded, which made the pasting effect very obvious. The scan,
which appears by courtesy of Nicholas Hough, has been comprehensively doctored
to get rid of staining, so approach it with care.
