AGGRO
Aggro was formed by Iris 'Riss' Chantelle, previously a member of vocal groups The
Lana Sisters and The Chantelles, as a subsidiary of her 'Chantelle Music'
publishing company ('Music Week', 25th August 1979). It released at least three singles
but took four years in which to do it. The first single,
Nola York's, 'La La Love To Love Ya' b/w 'Downfall' (AG-1), came
out in October 1979, but for some reason the second, 'Second Hand Rag', by Fanny
& Danny (AG-2), didn't appear until July 1981. Again, more than a year passed before AG-3
came out; it was another Nola York record,
'Miles Away', and it appeared in September 1982. The 'Music Week' article
said that 'La La Love To Love Ya' was to be distributed by Pinnacle, but 'Music
Master' says that Selecta did the job. Pinnacle distributed both
of the 1980s singles. Sales of all three must have been
fairly small. You'd think that a label called Aggro would be dedicated to Punk Rock, but Nola
York was another ex-Chantelle and the Fanny & Danny single was a Cockney novelty
record.
