AJP
An outlet for the
productions of violinist / independent
producer Alan J. Peters. AJP appears to have issued around
a dozen records in or around 1976-77, all but one of which were albums. Happily
for the purposes of this site, there was a solitary single in amongst them.
The single, which was entitled 'A Bi-Centenary Tribute', offered The Band
Of H. M. Coldstream Guards playing 'The Stars And Stripes
Forever' on one side, and The Band Of H. M. Welsh Guards playing 'The
Battle Hymn Of The Republic' on the other. It came out in
1976, and its catalogue number, AJP-1005, was taken from the series that was
generally used by the company for its LPs. Pressing was by Orlake. AJP's products
seem to have been aimed at the Military Band / MOR / Christmas markets.
Peters went on to produce a series of albums for TV-advertised label
Ronco during 1978-82, and also produced a large number of albums with the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra from 1993 into the 2010s.
