ALVIC

Something of a mystery.  Alvic seems to have been responsible for just one record: an EP by singer - and organist? - Bill Sweeney, 'Bill Sweeney In Harmony At The Organ'.  In addition to the tracks shown on the scan the EP offered versions of 'Smile' and 'Moonlight Bay'.  There's no date on the labels, but the layout is very similar to one used for an EP on Northline Records (q.v.) in 1977, so I would imagine that the middle third of the 70s would be a decent bet.  The catalogue / matrix number on the run-off was BS-001.  The 'mono' on the labels wouldn't have been necessary in the '60s, when mono was standard, so that, too, points to the '70s.  The drummer on the record, Vic Sweeney, was presumably the 'Vic' of 'Alvic', which leaves one wondering who the 'Al' was - Alan?  Albert?  Alison?  There's a second vocalist on some of the songs, which may perhaps have been 'Al', though he's not credited.  Whoever it was, Alvic has the look of a DIY concern, and the tracks are typical Club / Cabaret material.  Any more information would be welcome.
