ARAWAK

A Reggae label, run by Dennis Bovell.  Arawak operated from 1978 into the early eighties, and it specialized in 12" singles, which are beyond the scope of this site.  It did however manage a few 7" releases; 'Positive Vibrations' by Pebbles (AR-01; 1977) appears to have been the only one released independently.  A couple of (presumably) subsequent singles were licensed to EMI in 1979 and were issued by that company.  They were given a new label design (2), and they shared a RIC-100 catalogue series with those of the Radic, MR., Deb Music (q.v. all), More Cut and Taxi labels, as shown in the discography on the MR. page.  They also shared a common layout, colour scheme and company sleeve with the first and fourth labels in that list.  More Cut and MR. were also run by Dennis Bovell.  The first scan comes by courtesy of Robert Bowes; thanks to John Timmis for the second.
