AREAC

A firm from Halesowen,
Worcestershire. Areac's main area of business was the design and installation of sound
equipment - public address systems, and the like - but
in the '70s
they made custom recordings, which appeared on the company's own label.
Catalogue numbers were shared by LPs
and EPs (and singles? Were there any?) and were in an AR-1000
series, which reached at least AR-1041. The few Areac records that I have managed to track
down are listed below. The one to look out for is
an album by Sétanta, 'Grey Water'; 100
copies were pressed and they currently go for sale for sums in the high three-figures. There
should be a lot more Areacs out there, but what they are, and what format they are in,
remains a mystery at the moment. Any information would be welcome -
a 'discography' consisting of eight records out of a possible forty-odd is lamentable. Thanks to
Steve Hill for bringing the Life Gospel Rock Group EP to my attention, and
to Janek Farrier-Smith for doing the same with the Birmingham Bible Institute
album.
