AUDIOGENIC
The label of Audiogenic Studios, of Reading. The studio was
founded in 1975, by Martin Maynard. It played host to several famous
names, including XTC and Van Morrison, and in addition it offered a custom
recording service for those artists who wanted one. Audiogenic
records are rare, so the numbers pressed must have been small; the few examples
I have seen have been the usual Cabaret / Club fare. Catalogue
numbers were in an A-0 series, which was shared by EPs and singles
alike. There are usually no dates on the labels, but as can be seen
from the scan the Stadium Dogs' 'Easy
Beat' maxi-single (A-17) was dated 1977. By 1979 Audiogenic had begun to
concentrate on producing computer software, but it still put out a few records
after that time - A-19, by General Accident, came out on the Quicksilver label
(q.v.) in March 1980. The few Audiogenics that googling revealed are
listed below; several appear to be Linguaphone pressings. Thanks to James Denholm for letting me know about the
General Accident single.
