AZTEC
A label from Northern Ireland.
Aztec was responsible for at least one record, a single by Belfast
band Dirty Work, who seem also to have been known as Dirtywork. It featured a
version of 'Rose Of Tralee' on one side, and 'Belfast City Girl' on
the other, and it was issued in 1976 with a catalogue number of SPO-2. As
yet, googling has failed to reveal the existence of an SPO-1. The label
may have been associated with Outlet Records (q.v.), as the labels have a
similar appearance to that of Outlet at
the time; the 'O' in the prefix may be a reference to
Outlet. Vocalist Marty Lundy made another appearance on vinyl with Katmandu, who put out
a single on the Irish label Spider four years later, 'I Can Make
The Future' b/w 'Australia' (WEB-037). Thanks to Klepsie of the 45Cat site for bringing Aztec
to my attention, and to Nicholas Hough for suppling the scan.
