A.R.S.S.
A DIY label from the Punk / New Wave era, A.R.S.S. was
owned by the Punk band Excel; it took its name from the initials of the band members' first names. On reflection, it's a pity they weren't a
Reggae band: they could have called it R.A.S.S. There appears to have been just the one record
issued on the label: Excel's own 'If It Rains' EP
(XL-1; 5/79), which contained the tracks 'If It Rains',
'Rolling Home', 'She's One Of The Boys' and 'Rock Show'. After it was released the group signed
for Polydor. Sadly, they only made one single for their
new label - 'What Went Wrong?' b/w 'Junita' (POSP-110; 1/80) - before
splitting up. Thanks to Col. Wolfe of the 45cat site for permission to use
