BIRD SOUND STUDIOS
The precursor of Monty Bird's custom recording label
Tank Records (q.v.). The very first single made
through his Bird Sound Studios, 'Shanagolden' b/w 'I Love You Still',
by Country band Big John & The Emerald Stars, came out under the studio's name,
as shown in the picture above, and bequeathed to Tank its
BSS-100 numerical series. The year of issue isn't certain, but it is either
1974 or early '75. Manufacture was by Orlake. The company's second
single, BSS-103, bore the Tank label, as did the vast majority of
its subsequent records. Big John and the band went on to put out
an EP on Tank, featuring the tracks 'Broken Engagement', 'Your My Angel Judy', Bally
Bunion By The Sea' and 'A Dog Named Boo' (BSS-113;
1976).
