BLUEPRINT
One of the Pye group of labels. According to Billboard magazine of
the 27th of October 1979 Pye launched Blueprint as a Contemporary Rock
label in an attempt to freshen the company's image. It arrived on the
scene rather late for the purposes of this site, its first records appearing in
September 1979. Fifteen singles were released during
1979-80; one of them, Karel Fialka's 'The Eyes Have It' (BLU-2005; 3/80),
registered briefly in the Singles Chart, getting to No. 52. Records
by Mod band The Crooks and New Wave outfit The Reputations are apparently
starting to command decent prices. The company sleeve had no writing on it
to identify it. Promos were marked in the standard Pye way of that time,
with a large black 'A' in the centre of the label. The discography below
is complete, to the best of my knowledge: BLU-2004 has yet to be accounted for
and may not have been issued.
