BLUE MOUNTAIN BAND

The Blue Mountain Band was a long-lived British folk-dance band, dedicated to playing American dance music.  Over the course of the thirty-odd years of its existence it made a number of records, notably for EFDSS (the English Folk Dance and Song Society) (q.v.), but at least two EPs appeared on its own Blue Mountain Band label.  BMB-72 offered a selection of 'American Reels', while 'American Favourites' was numbered BMB EP-80.  There were no dates on the labels, but 'Favourites' has a 'K' number, K-433, in the run-off, which enables us to pin it down as a 1980 pressing by the Sound Manufacturing company.  'America Reels' however was pressed by Orlake, and those kinds of 'smooth outer ring, rough surface' pressing marks on the labels can be found on Orlake pressings from the late 1960 until 1975; the tracks on it are in stereo, which in 7" terms makes it more likely to be a '70s product than a '60s one, so I've included the Blue Mountain Band label here with a certain amount of confidence.  It may be that the '72' and the '80' of the catalogue numbers refer to the years of issue.
