BORING

A DIY Punk label, from 1977. Boring was owned
by members of Punk band The Exiles, from Glasgow; its first release was their 'Don't Tax
Me' EP (BO-1; 8/77), which included the tracks 'Jubilee 77', 'Hooked On You',
'Fascist D.J.' and 'The Windmill'. The band signed to Charly Records for their second
record, a three-track maxi-single which came out in January 1978, and then split up. A new group, called 'Friction', arose from
the remnants; they issued a second maxi-single on the Boring label, 'World In Crisis'
b/w 'Hold On You' and 'Mystery' (BO-3), in 1980. As can be seen, that
record gained a logo and had an injection moulded label. Thanks to Simon Hughes for the
first scan, and to James Denholm for the second.
