CHARMERS
One of the few
flexi-disc labels to make it onto this site. In general flexis
were used as giveaway promotional
items, but a few were intended for sale and therefore managed
to qualify for inclusion here. Charmers was one of them, albeit indirectly: its
six EPs were produced for greetings card firm Hallmark and were packaged
with a set of birthday cards for grandchildren. The year
of issue was 1977, and the EPs were numbered in
an EPM-110-H series. The company behind the recordings was spoken-word specialists Maiden Music and
manufacture was done by Sound For Industry (q.v. both).
Charmers flexis had paper labels - quite attractive ones, too - whereas
other flexis tended to lack them. The EPs / cards were also available in the
Netherlands, in Dutch language versions. For other commercial flexis see Petrol, Silver Discs and Wake Up.
