CMS (Deal)



A custom recording concern from Deal, in Kent.  The CMS recording studios are still in operation today (2008), but the few of their records which Google turned up when I consulted it seem to date from the late '70s into the mid '80s.  As is always the way with custom recording firms their products are hard to trace, which makes it difficult to make any positive statements about what numerical systems were used or the span of years that the label covered; 1976 would appear to be a reasonable guess at a starting year.  As far as 7" records are concerned there seem to have been two different prefixes used, CRM and MR; the album numbers I've seen so far have been prefixed AP, MR/O/L or MR/PR.  It looks as though the various formats shared a common set of numbers but used different prefixes.  Pressing of the few '70s examples that I've seen has been by Orlake.  Thanks to Robert Bowes for the second scan.  The 'discography' below lists the few CMS records that I've tracked down so far - LPs are in square brackets.
